Breaking news: 2012 2€ CC of SAN MARINO

message written by Fabrice ROLLAND

One of our source asked today to the Director of the SAN MARINO numismatic office what would be the draw on national side of the 2012 SAN MARINO 2€ CC.

He confirmed that the design of the coin will be the same as the design of the other coins minted by the european countries taking part to this minting program.

That is to say the design of Helmut ANDEXLINGER, from the austrian mint.

This serie will count 22 coins, and not 21.

This decision has been also confirmed today by ECB to one of our members, Mister Daniel KROPP.

2012 slovak proof set - limited mintage

message written by Fabrice ROLLAND

Official announcement of the slovakian Mint:

Set of Slovak euro coins 2012 Games of the XXXth Olympiad London 2012 proof like packed in a wooden box will be available in reservation form on February 13 and 14, 9:00am to 2:00pm

Please read carefully the following info:

- one customer is allowed to reserve only one piece of the coin set

- the total amount of coin sets for reservation will be divided into two parts - each part will be offered at particular day (Monday, and Tuesday). The quantity of coin sets for particular day will be divided into several smaller quantities that will be added in to the reservation form in regular periods - it means that if you fail to log in to our webpage (because of too many connections), or cannot see the coin set in reservation form, just wait a few minutes and repeat the attempt (do not worry if you can make the reservation immediately at 9:00am, you can succeed to do so even at 2:00pm). Moreover, if you fail to do the reservation the first day, there is still a chance to do it the second day. This way we try to avoid the situation that the webpage will be not available/overloaded, or that the total amount of coin sets will be reserved very quickly within a few minutes

Please notice we do not accept the phone or email reservations/orders of this coin set.

Mint of Finland’s new coin captures the year
In celebration of design capital year

A touch of luxury combined with a portion of practicality – this is the secret of best designs. In 2012, the eyes of the design world will turn towards Finland and its World Design Capital, Helsinki. Mint of Finland ushers in 2012 by commemorating Finnish design and knowhow with a collector coin.

The  ”World Design Capital Helsinki 2012” collector coin will be launched on 3 February 2012 at the World Money Fair, Berlin.

‘This is a wonderful start for the year. A design coin expresses the need for practical comfort - they bring together a touch of luxury with a portion of Nordic practicality, augmenting Finnish quality of life', says Paul Gustafsson, CEO of Mint of Finland.

Focused practicality

Mint of Finland's design coin celebrates the capital city, Helsinki, as well as Finland as a whole - a country that leads the way in design and planning. In recognition of this, the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design named Helsinki the 2012 World Design Capital.

The coin spreads the message of Finland today as an innovative and modern country of competences. A modern and focused approach is the cornerstone of Finnish and Nordic design. Modern, stylish practicality is easy to enjoy, adding to the comfort of life. The collector coin marking this momentous year has been designed by designer Henna Lamberg.

Mint of Finland celebrates this jubilee year with a collector coin, minted as a gold and silver version with a nominal value of €50, and a base-metal version with a nominal value of €5.

The gold and silver collector coin is offered in a beautiful gift package. A clear, elegant form and recyclability unite the package with the Mint of Finland family. The coin is truly a gift in this package as the surrounding ribbon gives the entire product the finishing touch.

The 5-euro WDC coin is offered in a purse that contains ten collector coins.

With best regards,
